The Veil
She found herself in front of the pathway,
only a few moments had passed since she left her abode,
or perhaps a few years…
How could she be sure if time was unreliable?
Then she saw the wet leaves under her feet
and a wave of doubt ran through her skin
should I go? She asked herself
and the most disturbing silence answered
could my greatest loves be still waiting for me?
She asked then among her tears
but her feet were moving without consent
and the comings and goings of her frayed skirt
brought back memories of better times,
those without the shadows,
those of being in his arms.
The house looked darker than ever when she arrived
every room was stripped of laughter
even the soft usual steps were silent.
She walked through it all before accepting the loneliness
And the real torment embraced her again.
The black woods were always waiting
with the wind that never makes a noise and
the always cloudy heavens.
The thing that made her now dance is dark and horrid
The permanent night they call it…
All she has now is the crying chant of her heart
and a few of the best memories of the life she once had.
How could I ever believe I had an escape?
She asked herself again
There is no way out this time
death does not work like life.
She finds herself in front of the pathway
The graveyard behind her
With the call to rest that she could never answer.
